Project Cadence

The Lights

No. 4

Finally got the lights, buck converter, and MOSFET drivers for Project Cadence!

I had a surprisingly hard time getting the ceiling lamp covers off, but eventually managed to get everything exposed. After connecting the loose wires to the buck converter and wiring everything together, I finally got the lights working!

I also flashed the ESP32 with the firmware that lets me control the lights programmatically and connects it to our home network, so I can finally control the lighting remotely instead of having to physically touch the switches.

Honestly, I mostly just connected everything, powered it on, and hoped I wouldn't cause a fire. And somehow, it worked.

Now I have controllable lights integrated into Cadence, which means I can finally start experimenting with lighting schedules and ambient illumination.

Next step: hopefully making everything a little less chaotic and a lot more electrically sound.
